Who We Are
We’re laying the groundwork for Wahkiakum IMPACT, a new nonprofit focused on connecting our community through shared resources and collaborative efforts that create lasting change.

Wahkiakum - Inspiring, Mutual, Partnerships, Action, Community, Transformation

Our mission is to unify our community as part of that very building process. We believe that selfless service weaves a strong social fabric—connecting us to one another through action, trust, and shared purpose.
We’re doing this by organizing projects, hosting events, sharing skills and meals, and cultivating relationships that strengthen Wahkiakum from the inside out.

We don’t believe in reinventing the wheel—we believe in working smarter by teaming up and building on what’s already strong. Together, we can make a greater impact.

01
Community Thanksgiving
Our first event was the Community Thanksgiving of 2021. On a whim, in the midst of Covid, a small group of friends decided to host a community potluck, never did they expect to serve nearly 100 people. We knew there was more work to do.
02
Shoeboxes of Joy - Wahkiakum
In November of 2021, Season Long, a member of Wahkiakum IMPACT, formally Speak Up Wahkiakum, started up a Wahkiakum chapter of Shoeboxes of Joy, a Christmas program with origins in Pacific County. in 2007, Shoeboxes of Joy was founded by DeAnn Kettwig, who was looking for a way to reach out to local elderly and disabled residents who were without family during the holidays, by bringing them a special and, useful, gift.

Community Breakfasts
After the overwhelming success of our Community Thanksgiving Potluck—and the clear need for connection it revealed—we took our efforts to unite the community a step further. In December 2021, we launched our Free Community Breakfasts, beginning with self-serve pancakes. By January 2022, we transitioned to biscuits and gravy. Since then, attendance has grown steadily, with neighbors bringing dishes to share and new friendships forming around the table. The response has been so strong, we've had to expand our space to welcome everyone.

Through these shared meals, stories, and experiences, it became clear: our community is hungry for more than just food—we're hungry for connection, collaboration, and shared purpose. That realization led to the creation of Wahkiakum IMPACT.
04
Community Education
With the help of local community members, we've have been able to collaborate by share our gifts and our talents through various classes and workshops. From Constitution Classes to Beginning Gardening, Homeschool workshops, Photography 101 and more. Together, anything is possible.

05
Build through Barter
Making an impact means more than organizing events—it means connecting neighbors with each other, sharing resources, and supporting one another in meaningful ways. Whether it's a meal, a project, or simply a conversation, every act of connection moves us all forward.

The possibilities truly are endless when we work together for the greater good.
